Sunshine Bay Sauvignon Blanc
is inspired by the crisp, fresh and revitalising feeling of the sea.
It's the salinity that comes from our vineyard closest to the coast that balances the fruit sweetness and natural acidity to perfection.
‘Sunshine Bay’ is the habitual holiday home for the Rose family. On a sheltered shoreline in the renowned Marlborough Sounds it has been their retreat for over 100 years. A place to unwind, relax and to enjoy all of New Zealand’s special qualities - exquisite sunshine, warm sand and clear blue seas. Days are spend here relaxing on the beach, with a glass of wine and watching the sun go down, over the azure blue sea.
The Marlborough Sounds in New Zealand is known for its sunshine. Blenheim experienced the country’s highest annual sunshine total for the year, with a total of 2,769 hours.
Sunshine Bay Sauvignon Blanc induces feelings of beach holidays, with family and friends whilst soaking up the sun and fresh sea air.
The Rose family’s legacy is intrinsically tied to the Rapaura district of Marlborough, New Zealand. In the 1970s, Phil & Chris Rose overcame strong and prolonged opposition and eventually obtained consent to plant their first grapevines along the banks of the Wairau River in 1978.
Their determination that viticulture could be a successful industry for Marlborough became pivotal in changing the course of the Marlborough region’s wine history.
What started as an agricultural operation and crop farming has become one of the most dynamic and innovative wineries in Marlborough. Today, wines made entirely from this family-owned and run estate continue to set the standard for New Zealand wines of exceptional quality.
Family is at the heart of Rose Family Estate, both literally and encompassing the wider team. Several of Phil & Chris Rose’s adult children (and their partners) are at the helm of Rose Family Estate today.

VITICULTURE AND WINERY
To ensure supply and efficiency, the Rose Family have strategically increased their vineyard holdings to more than 500 hectares. Focusing on the northern side of the Wairau Valley which provides stylistic integrity. Most of which are just 10 minutes away; and the furthest one a mere 30 minutes from the winery, ensuring fruit is processed within an hour of picking, maximising flavour concentration, freshness and quality.

The winery, built in 2002 can crush up to 10,000 tons of fruit and is sited at the Rapaura vineyard, central to the estate. Fruit can be transported from vineyard to winery within 30 minutes. The short time between picking and processing maximises flavour concentration, freshness and quality.
The winery also includes a bottling line and warehouse allowing Rose Family Estate to be able to produce 650,000 cases per year. That’s 7,800,000 bottles of wine grown, made and packaged.
All decisions are made in-house from harvesting to winemaking, bottling and warehousing, meaning that there is 100% control from vine to bottle.
